Shipping

Sample shipments to/from Argonne have separate requirements according to their status as non-hazardous or hazardous.  Users are required to comply with US DOT, US DOE, ANL and APS requirements for shipping and receiving materials, samples and equipment. Use FedEx if possible. Please provide GSECARS with your shipment tracking number.

Material Classifications:

  • Hazardous Materials : Hazardous materials are those materials considered hazardous by the US DOT, ANL,and the DOE. All hazardous materials that are brought to the APS must be declared on your ESAF. Contact Joanne Stubbs (630) 252-0427 or Bruce Glagoa if you have any questions.
  • Radioactive Samples : Please submit your ESAF early prior to your experiment start date, noting a complete description of the radiaoctive sample and containment.  Contact Joanne Stubbs (630) 252-0427 or Bruce Glagoa if you have any questions.
  • Regulated Soil : Soil from foreign sources and certain locations in the US are regulated in their movement into and about the country because it could contain numerous diseases and pests.  Please submit your ESAF early prior to your experiment start date. Contact Bruce Glagoa if you have any questions.
